Published on: 12 October 2009

From October 15th onwards, BIID will expand the e-Krishok campaign to over 100 location throughout rural Bangladesh. e-Krishok is a campaign with the aim of providing rural farmers with the benefit of ICT in the form of information and advisory services.

e-Krishok was conceived to promote ICT usage in rural Bangladesh with the aim of increasing incomes of rural farmers across Bangladesh. e-Krishok provided farmers with information and advisory services regarding agriculture, animal husbandry, cottage industry and any other rural income generating activities. Potential rural entrepreneurs can also obtain information regarding business ideas through e-Krishok.

e-Krishok is hence geared towards providing services to citizens in rural Bangladesh, to help them in their income generating activities. e-Krishok can help in this way to bridging the digital divide that exists between the urban and the rural areas of Bangladesh.
